Discover the Health Benefits of Golden Milk and Learn How to Make It Yourself

Updated: Jan 18

If you haven't heard about Golden Milk yet, check out its many accolades with a quick Googs search. It's supes good for our bodies.

And yes, I am a 39-year-old woman who just said "Googs" and "supes." Whatcanyadoaboutit. But here's a little on why I love it so much...

It can support our body's natural response to inflammation because of the turmeric - a powerful antioxidant - and adding Black Pepper and Cinnamon Vitality essential oils boosts the health benefits of this golden milk recipe and its effectiveness. Black Pepper Vitality also contains antioxidants and can support healthy weight management and your digestive system. Cinnamon Bark Vitality is a powerful essential oil with even more antioxidants and provides immune and general wellness support.

Let's talk about why it's important to specifically address inflammation. Do you have everyday pains in your lower back? Do your joints frequently ache? These may be common symptoms, but that doesn't mean that is a normal, healthy state for your body to constantly be in.

There are two types of inflammation:

  • short-term or acute inflammation is your body responding to an injury or illness and it's your body's way of helping restore you to a healthy state. When you get stung by a bee, the inflammation you experience sends an "alarm bell" to your immune system, which then responds to the injury. Similarly, if you sprain your ankle, the inflammation and swelling can prevent you from moving the injured area, which can help prevent further injury. You picking up what I'm putting down?

  • long-term inflammation can cause chronic symptoms and lead to larger health issues, such as body aches. It can also affect your health in other ways by causing insomnia, constant fatigue, weight gain, frequent infections, mood disorders like depression and anxiety, and gastrointestinal issues such as constipation, diarrhea, and acid reflux. We end up in a state of chronic inflammation because of the foods we eat, toxins from the products we use, stress, and other factors. Our cells and body systems are trying to protect us from the harm that is consistently being thrown at us (or that we're doing to ourselves).

That's why it's helpful to have something simple to incorporate into your lifestyle to help ease your body out of its overalert state. Drinking this golden milk recipe every day can help your body respond in a healthy way to inflammation, easing some of those symptoms you're feeling because you're starting to address the root cause!

You can drink it hot, chilled, or over ice; many like to enjoy it warm as a comforting before-bed nightcap. This recipe makes two 8-ounce servings, so share the love or save the rest in a glass jar for later.

Ingredients

Simply blend the ingredients in a blender on high or hand whisk like a madwoman or madman!

If the spicy flavor is too strong at first, try making the full recipe and pouring a little of it at a time into your favorite milk, adding more each day you drink it until you can work your way up to the undiluted recipe.
